salt (archive) partners with organizations, institutions, and brands to create projects that center food, culture, community, and intergenerational practices through the lens of memory, land, and lived experience. We don’t do surface-level work. Everything we create is slow, relational, and grounded in the traditions of Black, queer, and Indigenous communities.

Our approach blends archival practice with creative strategy, bridging the past and present to help others show up more thoughtfully in their work and in their relationships to culture, community, and legacy.

What We Offer

Workshops & Gatherings
We design intimate, intergenerational experiences—from storytelling sessions to legacy dinners—
that explore food as a vessel for healing, remembrance, and cultural transmission.

Community Listening Events
Through events like Listening Dinners, we create space for shared reflection, oral history, and intergenerational dialogue.
These are spaces for witnessing, being witnessed, and passing down knowledge.

Program & Strategy Development
We collaborate with institutions to develop values-aligned public programs, exhibitions and
educational initiatives rooted in cultural preservation, deep listening, and intergenerational exchange—not just output.

Media & Brand Partnerships
We advise on food-forward campaigns and editorial work, helping brands center narrative integrity,
cultural nuance and sensory storytelling that honors generational knowledge and traditions.

Cultural Research & Archival Consulting
We support research projects, exhibits, and cultural studies that require intentional sourcing,
community collaboration and historical grounding in food, migration and memory across generations.

Speaking & Facilitation
Founder Naj Austin offers talks and moderated conversations on the politics of food, the intimacy of archiving
and how to build place-based, analog experiences in a digital-first world—centered in intergenerational learning and legacy.
